WORLD MARKET EXTRAVAGANZA

COST PLUS WORLD MARKETworld market is one of my favorite home stores, everrr. i probably go in once a week and the stuff in there is so good you guys!! and it’s totally affordable too. a lot of their products are stylish and don’t look cheap and in my experience, last a pretty long time too. i swear i end up seeing very similar lookalikes of their inventory at anthropologie for like 4x the price. here are some of my favorite neutral/wood/copper toned items currently on their shelves.

cork lid scented jar candle ($15) | copper rectangular metal reese mirror ($17) | bamboo bath mat ($35) | rattan flynn hairpin dining chairs ($200, set of 2) | tempered duralex picardie dof glasses ($12, set of 4) | brass diamond table lamp base ($60) | olivewood salad servers ($20, set of 2) | copper colander ($10) | bleached ivory basket weave jute rug ($70 for a 4 x 6)

when we first moved in 2 years ago, reis’ bathroom was a sad, sad sight (i took photos but they are nowhere to be found!). the walls were a terrible blue color, the last tenant left us her red gingham shower curtain, and there were mismatched ikea shelves barely hanging by a few nails on random parts of the wall. the first things we did were to paint it white, get a white shower curtain, and make some wood shelves with my dad. i also made some “ace hotel inspired” fixtures including that toilet paper holder and some towel hooks using pvc pipes and spray painting them black. then it sat like that for about a year. i feel like when you first move into a place, you have a lot of decorating/diy momentum and then some projects just sit at a standstill until you have time/energy to work on them again. that was the case with his bathroom. i was more focused on getting our living room and my office into shape so that project went on the backburner. finally at the beginning of the year, i decided to spruce it up and got some baskets and plants and a few flea market trinkets. it’s a much happier place now than its original state….only took me two years!

it’s become a special tradition for reis and me to spend our anniversary in santa barbara and this year we added ojai into the mix! we stayed at ojai rancho inn for a night and looveed it. free bikes, cute (and cheap) rooms, yes please. we stopped into shop summer camp on our way out and talked to the sweet owner rachel for a good 45 minutes and learned all about how their adorable shop came to be. we headed up to santa barbara and spent the afternoon wandering around the courthouse sunken gardens and eating real good food at our old fave eateries (that town has the best mexican food). in the several years we lived there, neither of us had ever been up to the bell tower at the courthouse so we made our way up there and it was beautiful! highly recommend seeing the city from that view. oh santa barbara, we love you!

and what. i still can’t believe we’ve been married two years!! best two years ever. time FLIES.

WEEKENDS + WEDDINGS

sb5sb7SB4

this past weekend we spent up in santa cruz for our dear friends’ wedding! it was one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever witnessed…a 2 day glamping wedding nestled in the redwoods with every little detail so well thought out and perfectly curated. pics (+ film) to come soon! we also got to spend a lot of quality time with my brother and sis-in-law and little niece parker who live in SC. we had such a relaxing and GOOD weekend…full of family + friends + good conversation. we went on long strolls around their cute, beachy neighborhood, did some shopping downtown, and went to verve at least 2x a day :) it’s definitely starting to feel like fall in northern california and it got me so excited for cooler temps to hit here down south! we left early yesterday morning and stopped in santa barbara for a tasty lunch at d’angelo’s bread, the cutest little bakery/restaurant where we snapped these photos.

all in all a solid weekend with a solid crew!
