grand launch!

grandlaunch3

oh hey!  welcome to my brand spankin’ new site and the grand launch of JayAdores Design Co.!  it feels so good to have this up and running and i am SO happy with how it turned out.  i think it really represents my brand and my aesthetic (remember my moodboard here?).  take some clicks around and explore all of my new pages if you’d like!

a few shoutouts:

+ a HUGE thank you to scott, my amazing developer who made this thing come alive!  i highly, highly recommend this guy.  super knowledgable, helpful, patient, nice, and very timely with e-mails!  if you are looking for a programmer, scott is your man.

+ for those who subscribe by e-mail, i don’t think you will be getting e-mail notifications anymore as i switched servers in the process.  i think eventually you will be able to re-subscribe by e-mail using that subscribe button on the right…but as for now, i don’t think it’s working.  i’ll keep you posted!

+ google reader will no longer be around on july 1 (so sad!), so now i read blogs via feedly.  check my blog out here!

+ i finally created an official facebook page.  so if the f-book is your thing, you can like my page here!

+ i am hoping to launch my shop at the end of summer 2013!  with our move to california coming up sooner than later, i’ve got a lot on my mind (like how i’m going to decide which of our possessions are worth shipping across the pacific).  i also thought it would be best to hold off on shipping a ton of inventory here only to have to ship it back to the golden state.

be back soon.

my new site + portfolio + blog is almost done and i can’t wait to show you guys.  hopefully in the next week it will go live…yay!  see you from my new home!

red eye essentials.

redeyeessentials2

i’ve flown quite a bit in the past year…i think since last may, i’ve been to california on average once a month!  i mostly flew the red eye because when i was still working at my corporate job, i had to catch the friday night flight out to LA and make it back to hawaii by sunday night for work on monday.  (yet another reason why working for myself is AWESOME).  these were my essential pieces for those late-night-to-morning flights but definitely work for any-time-of-day-flying as well.

1) a large bag / i love using a big bag for a carryon because i stuff it with my laptop, camera, wallet, a book, some snacks, and other random in-flight necessities.  i’m really loving this one from cuyana.

2) a long + cozy sweater / without fail, i get super cold on the red eye.  i find blanket-like sweaters get the job done in keeping me warm through the night. (i saved this pic so long ago and have no idea where i saved it from!  i’m wishing i knew because that sweater is so cute!)

3) boots / i always wear my heaviest and largest shoes on the plane so they don’t take up precious room inside my suitcase.  (they also keep my toes warm on freezing flights!)  i currently have a huge crush on these ones from madewell and am saving my pennies for them because i love them so much!

4) leggings / the comfier the pants, the better.

when it’s cold in hawaii…

cozyinsidethe past few weeks in hawaii have been kind of cold (in my opinion) and super windy.  we live on a big hill so i’m not sure if it’s the extra breeze we get up here, but i haven’t worn a sweatshirt and sweats this much since i moved here almost four years ago!  and i’m taking FULL advantage of the situation.  i miss cooler california winters so i love when the opportunity presents itself to wear comfy sweats around the house while i work and drink hot coffee (opposed to my regular shorts/tank/iced coffee)!  i know most people don’t advise to work in your pajamas, but until hawaii goes back to being warm, i will be wearing this cozy get-up.

JayAdoresDesignCoMoodboardFINAL2

this is the mood board i made in the process of my own rebrand.  lots of black and white, neutrals and gold, just how i like it.  i’m debating throwing in some color, but that’s yet to be determined.  branding my company has been a very slow process, mostly because i’m my worst critic.  but i’m working on it!!  every single day.  and can’t wait to do a grand launch.  here’s to hoping it’s sooner than later.  stay tuned!

*also…some people were asking me what a mood board was after the last mood board i posted, so to sum it up, it’s basically a collection of images, colors, and type to visually illustrate the general aesthetic/vibe of a company.  it helps in the branding process to create direction for the designer.  (i.e. the photo of the bottles does not literally have anything to do with my company, more so the composition/colors/simplicity of the photo…make sense?)
