WORK | TENSEED LOGO.

tenseedlogo2

do you guys remember this mood board i showed you a few months ago?  well, we finished up this logo a long while back and i’ve just failed to show you until now!  tess nunn is the brain behind this rad company (read about it below!) and she’s aiming to have her blog up by september 1 and her shop will launch december 1!  we are both so happy with how the final logo turned out!  i hand-lettered the “ten” and had so much fun creating it.  below are a few other options we explored in the process before ultimately deciding on the one shown above.

now for a blurb about TENSEED:

TENSEED is an attempt to consolidate two opposing rival passions: fashion and global citizenship.  even those of us who love luxurious textiles and good design want to ensure our lives are contributing to the greater good.  so tess set out to establish TENSEED – a boutique where the purchase of something beautiful didn’t have to be an indulgence – it could be a contribution.  tess sponsors a woman in pursuit of financial freedom – and every purchase you make on TENSEED is a step toward her liberation.

tess loves to hunt for treasures in thrift stores and vintage shops to mix-and-match with boutique pieces and the occasional designer splurge. tess set out to make TENSEED a place where you can find pieces to add to your wardrobe or home that make it a little more “you”.  all items are hand-selected and brought to TENSEED with the intention that your wardrobe and home become a collection of well curated items.

how rad is that!?  i love a good excuse to shop and give back in the same purchase.  i can’t wait to browse her shop come december!

WORK | ALI MARIE PHOTOGRAPHY

alimarie1

on monday, we launched the brand spankin’ new website for ali marie photography!  unfortunately i can’t take credit for her beautiful logo done by the amazing chelsea petaja (isn’t it beautiful!?), but i did do her site re-design!  ali was such an amazing client to work with – super organized from the start and just really sweet and great all around.  we created a site that fit the aesthetic of her photography business – charming, natural, and genuine.  we also gave her a blog a little facelift to mirror her new site.  below is the initial mood board we created (we ended up veering away from the gold and the glitz).  now go check it out and browse through her beautiful photos!

*i had never worked with showitfast before, and dang, it is a really great platform if you are looking into doing an extremely customizable website sans a programmer.  it’s super easy to navigate and the help desk chat guys are GREAT.  like super great.  i utilized them at least 4 times when i ran into technicality issues that were beyond me.

congrats, ali!

WORK | vintage hawaii postcard invitations.

everett6Everett2Everett9Everett10

it’s been a while since i’ve posted my work and i have a few recent projects that i’m excited to share with you over the next few weeks!  starting with these.  these first birthday invitations were so much fun to create!  i love vintage hawaii designs and have been hoping that one of these days a client would approach me with that aesthetic in mind.  so when our good friend ida contacted me about doing her son’s birthday party invites with that very theme, i was pretty stoked to say the least.  below is the mood board we initially created to set the tone of the design and above is the finished product!  i even used my own photos of diamond head and the anahulu bridge to create elements within the invitation.  ida was a dream client to work with (and by the way, she makes some super cute jewelry that you should all go and check out) and we were both super pleased with how everything turned out.

happy first birthday, everett!  we are so bummed we can’t be in hawaii to celebrate with you in a few weeks!

a graduation/farewell party.

reisgradparty1

last monday when my parents were in town, i threw reis a graduation party!  i also used it as an excuse to round up all of our good friends in one place one last time before we take off for california (next week!).  planning a party for a dude is quite the challenge.  i think i have a pretty good handle on planning girly soirees, but this one had to feel more manly.  i went with a kraft/black/gold color scheme and am pretty happy with how everything turned out.  our good friends kezia and ashton hosted the party in their amazing backyard on the north shore up in pupukea and it could not have been more perfect!  thanks kezia for ALL of your help too!  i kept the decor pretty simple and tried to be resourceful about what i did use.  good thing my friend natalie drinks sparkling water multiple times a day because she gave me 3 trash bags full of bottles that i spray painted gold (thanks nat!).  i’m also so thankful for my mama who used precious suitcase room to bring out the black tablecloths and the gold M.D. balloons from our ever-growing party/wedding/event decor stash in california.

i only managed to snap a few pictures because it started raining right after we set the tables and the kraft placemats and tablecloths got pretty soaked.  boo.  we had beautiful weather once it stopped raining and we had such a good time spending sweet time with our friends and family!

of course my favorite part of planning parties is always the design aspect.  invites, menu cards, favors…i love it all!  i wanted the menu cards to look stamped, but it wouldn’t be very cost effective to get individual stamps made, so i just designed them to look stamped and printed them myself.  i also wanted to tie a very subtle hint of “doctor” into the party (without it being too cheesy or having stethescopes as the centerpieces) so i decided on mini prescription bags filled with candy for pills.  i played off of the Rx thing and turned it into reis’ initials and included a [definitely cheesy] prescription on how to cure “reis-withdrawals.”  thanks to my sis for her creative wording!

thanks to all of our friends who came out to celebrate with us!  we will miss everyone so much!
