thoughts on freelance | plan it out.

freelance01D freelance01bi’m going to start talking freelance on the blog.  it’s a completely different animal than corporate america and i’ve honestly never been happier.  even with the downsides of freelancing, it’s something i’m passionate about so it doesn’t feel like work.

one of the best gifts i got for christmas (i actually won this at our white elephant exchange!) was my day planner!  i’ve always been into pen + paper kinds of planners (vs. electronic ones) and i have found them extremely useful in making my life easier and more organized.  last week i was feeling super overwhelmed with everything i wanted to get done, that i barely got anything done.  i would sit at my computer all day going back and forth between several projects, but not making it very far on any single one and it was driving me crazy.  i like to feel like i accomplished something at the end of the day and it felt like i was getting nowhere.  enter: my planner.  game changer, people.  for this week, i wrote down what i wanted to work on for each day of the week and it helped out SO much!  i also have been using it to plan out each day’s blog post, work out, and what i’m going to cook for dinner.  so far, so good.   here’s to planners and trying my best to stay on top of things!  happy friday!

  1. I admire your braveness of leaving a job you hate and making a jump for your dream! Keep up the frequent blog posts! Love reading them!

  2. I’m also a pen and paper planner- I have two! One for work and one for home. I still haven’t found one that fits ALL my needs though so I may have to design my own. Honestly, that’s not a beast I want to tackle in the near future so I’m just working with what I got.

So proud of you for doing what you LOVE!

  3. Couldn’t agree more! I was so excited when I got my iPad and was all set to use if for all my notes/journal/calendar needs. Yet I have found more and more it stays unused for those tasks and my paper calendar book and old school journals get all the love. Hard habits to break I guess.
