WALLS | bradley + taylor’s san luis obispo home.

taybudapt2taybudapt7taybudapt3taybudapt10 taybudapt4 taybudapt5 taybudapt6taybudapt9when reis and i went on our road trip up to san francisco, we broke up the long drive by staying a night with my brother and his wife in their adorable san luis obispo home!  sorry that most of these photos are such up close and personal detail shots…i only had my prime lens with me!

they live in a cute + cozy guest house that taylor has done an amazing job decorating (that girl has a serious knack for style).  their dining nook is super adorable…i especially love their diner style napkin holder and their metal tub dining room chairs from world market.  they have knick knacks from anthropologie, thrift shops, antique stores, and garage sales styled throughout their space.  that clock is actually a family heirloom – how cool is that!?  taylor is also a huge plant lover and has little air plants and greenery all around the house which adds to its overall charm + coziness.  their front stoop is decked out with succulents and their landlords even let them have a huge gardening space in the backyard!  thanks for letting me share your space, bradley and tay!  can’t wait for our next visit!

WALLS | chadlou’s coffee + tea lounge.

chadlous19chadlous1 chadlous2 chadlous10 chadlous18chadlous6chadlous9chadlou’s is one of my favorite coffee shops on oahu located on the east side of the island in kailua!  my good friend sheila and her husband are the owners and they are two of the sweetest people i have ever met.  when i want to get out of the house, i come here to do work and set up camp for the day at one of the tables in the back room.  it really is everything i love in a coffeeshop – super cozy, good ambience, free wi-fi, and yummy food + drinks.  (the ice cream cookie sandwiches and this new nutella bread thing i was lucky enough to sample are definitely treats worth splurging on.)  they recently installed that ladder/shelving unit for the loose leaf tea they now sell — how cool is that??  i kinda love it.  if you are making a trip to oahu and plan on circling the island, chadlou’s is the perfect place for an afternoon snack or coffee break after spending some time on the beautiful beaches of kailua.  plus, it has cute boutiques on either side that are worth stopping in for some shopping!

WALLS | grow.

grow15 grow8bigsur30 bigsur6grow17 bigsur4grow1during our breakfast stop in cambria on the way to big sur, we went to grow, the most amazing succulent nursery i have ever laid eyes on (and the only one to be honest..but seriously, i don’t think it could get much more amazing than this place)!  i first heard of grow from my good friend ann-marie and knew it was a must stop on our road trip.  they have every type of succulent imaginable in this adorable little shop!   plus, all of their inventory is displayed in the cutest way possible which makes you want to buy each and every plant they have.  unfortunately, reis and i didn’t buy any because it’s a big hassle to bring plants into hawaii from the mainland.  oh well!  maybe one day.  for all you californians, go to grow and buy some cute little plants for your home or office!

WALLS | the daily dose.

dailydose23 dailydose2dailydose4dailydose13dailydose11dailydose12sooo i’m starting a new column here called WALLS.  i will be featuring the interiors of cool [to me] places i have been to including coffee shops, apartments, and perhaps cute retail shops and office spaces.  i have some reallyyy cute apartments in the queue right now and you should be seeing a few in the next several weeks!

we spent some time in LA when we were in california and discovered the daily dose!  reis had to be in downtown LA for some school stuff, and i needed a coffee shop to camp out at for most of the day to get work done.  it’s tucked away in an alley and the brick walls are covered in ivy!  it’s incredibly charming and it kind of feels like you walked straight into alice and wonderland.  the coffee, scones, and sandwiches they serve are really fresh + delicious, AND they have a huge room full of tables (and outlets…very important!) if you need get work done.  i highly recommend you take a little visit if you live in the LA area.  it’s definitely on my “top ten favorite coffee shops list” and i promise you’ll dig it too.
