i’ve really enjoyed living in redondo beach the past several months. it’s mellow, not super sceney, and we can bike to all of the necessities (coffee + good brunch spots + trader joe’s + goodwill). honolulu wasn’t the most bike friendly city, so we’ve loved having the convenience of being able to ride our bikes directly from our house on mini adventures. for the sake of my sanity, i have to leave the house once a day and this often takes place in the form of a quick cruise on the strand. these breaks have been made even better by the recent purchase of my coffee cup holder! now i can get my caffeine fix via bike without the one handed struggle and high possibility of lots of spills. two thumbs up to beach town living.

ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY TO SANTA BARBARA
way back in november, we celebrated our one year anniversary with a three day getaway to santa barbara. since our wedding day, i had been wanting to celebrate our one year in the town where we met and got married. before we had made any accommodations, my parents surprised us and booked us two nights at the bacara! you guys. that place is insane. it’s definitely the classiest and most luxurious resort we have ever had the pleasure of staying at (and way nicer than any place reis and i would have booked for ourselves, that’s for sure – thanks mom and dad!). we took full advantage of everything the resort had to offer and roamed the beautiful grounds both mornings of our stay. it was the most relaxing trip i think we’ve ever taken because we had no agenda whatsoever. another perk was that our anniversary landed on a weekday so we lucked out with a very uncrowded visit (and had the spa and pool all to ourselves!). we spent a little bit of time downtown, including a quick stop at cantwell’s market. reis took me here as part of our first date (6 years ago!) and i remember being insanely nervous ha! it’s so fun to relive those dating memories.
there’s just something about santa barbara that is so magical. it has endless amounts of charm, but we decided a lot of it has to do with the light. the dreamy gold/pinkish hues are always perfection! i would move back there in a heartbeat.
a few other notable stops on our trip: a delicious italian dinner that took us right back to our honeymoon at via maestra 42, a movie night at the riviera theater (my favorite hidden gem of santa barbara!), coffee at the french press, and of course our usual stop at mcconnell’s ice cream (salted caramel chip is a must, people).
OFFICIALLY LAUNCHING: ELLAY FILMS!
you guys!! i’m so incredibly excited to announce the OFFICIAL launch of my sister’s and my new film company, ELLAY FILMS! we have been working so hard on making our company come to life over the past year and could not be more thrilled that this day is finally here. film has been a part of our lives since our dad taught us how to work a camcorder when we were little so it’s a dream come true to be business partners pursuing our shared passion! i also had a blast doing our branding and designing our site and all of our marketing collateral (more on that coming soon!). check out our new site HERE, like our facebook page HERE, and follow us on instagram HERE!
*and a huge, huge thank you to my talented brother-in-law who developed our site!
FREELANCE THOUGHTS | REVAMPING MY WORK UNIFORM.
whoever decided that sweatpants are now considered a stylish piece of clothing (and perfectly acceptable to be worn out in public), i want to be your bff. since i started working from home, i live in sweats 24/7. i know many people feel more productive if they get dressed, but for me, wearing pajamas is the biggest perk of working from home! lately my daily getup has consisted of an atrocious pair of old college sweats (super baggy and suuperrr flattering) so i have decided i should start “investing” in my work uniform. i still want to be wearing sweats of some variety (hello, comfort!), but these options just feel fancier and a whole lot more fashionable. i’m not sure i can justify the price tag of a few of these, but i can dream!

HAWAII IN NOVEMBER.

in the beginning of november, we made a trip to hawaii for the first time since we moved to california in may! it felt so good to be back hanging with some of our best friends (like this crew and this gal) for one whole week. reis made up for lost time and surfed 3 times a day. seeing him so happy in his element really makes my heart so happy. we got pretty hooked up in the digs department and stayed in an incredible rental house on the beach next door to reis’ parent’s house. falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves crashing is MAGICAL. i failed at taking my camera out more often and these photos are mostly just from one day that we camped out at gas chambers, my favorite beach in the whole wide world! we spent the majority of our days lounging (me in the sand, him in the water), hanging with friends, and eating at all of our favorite spots. hoping to be back soon!

DISNEYLAND!
going to disneyland with a one year old is quite possibly the only thing that rivals the feeling you get on christmas morning as a child. we recently had a family outing to this magical theme park to take ryan for her first time! she won’t remember any of it, but we sure will. seeing her eyes light up everywhere we went (especially on the carousel!) was the most adorable thing to witness. by the way, disneyland is FUN. reis and i went totally expecting to have a blast hanging with my family and the little rybear, but little did we know we would have the time of our lives!! we haven’t been in several years and man, i love that place! we even stayed after my whole family left!
disneyland really is the happiest place on earth.
