bella mia for dinner [with a side of instagrams].

i know you probably think that i only eat mexican food if you read my blog.  not true.  i eat italian food too.  tonight i got a special treat of having a mini date night after work with reis at bella mia.  he is a slave to the hospital now so i only get to see him like once or twice week.  (tomorrow he goes in from 5 AM to 1 PM…on saturday)

i’m so happy it’s friday and i can’t wait for the weekend!  fridays are my favorite day of the week.  fridays around 4:00 to be exact.  you only have a few hours of work left, you have the whole weekend ahead of you and nothing has passed yet, and everyone just seems to be in a generally happy mood.  hope you all have a great weekend!

fourth of july fun.

so even though i didn’t make it into the ocean over the weekend, it was still amazing to have a three day break!  i’m not sure what it is about just one more day off, but it is so much more refreshing than just two days.  and i love that it not only extends the weekend, but it makes the work week shorter!  a win-win situation, i tell you.  my weekend was filled with some catching up on my to-do list, house hunting (more to come on that later), the north shore, eating good all-american food, spending time with friends, and a lot of sleeping.  i hope you had a wonderful fourth of july!

the hilarious Sarah who blogs at the oh-so-popular SkinnyRunner.com released Round TWO of SR shirts yesterday!  I have had the pleasure of working with Sarah (and met her for the first time in february) since last November on multiple different projects, including lots of shirts (round 3 coming soon!) and her logo that you see above.  if you like to run or workout, go buy one here.  these shirts are technical fabric so they are airy, lightweight, and 8923140x better than cotton.  get them while they are hot – last time they sold out in 2 days!

thanks sarah for working with me!  looking forward to working with you more!

miss hawaii.

Friday afternoon I get an email from my roommate Jess.  She wants to know if our other roommate Nicky and I want to go to the Miss Hawaii show/pageant (idk what they are technically called??) because her mom has free tickets for the VIP tables.  Umm, let me think about this:

A reason to dress up (and wear my favorite black dress from Ross…that I got for $4.99!!!),
hang out with my roomies,
see my friend Lauren compete in the pageant,
and get free drinks, food, and dessert??
YES PLEASE.  Sign me up.
.
So Saturday night the three of us got all fancy shmancy and went to the show.  And guess what?  My friend who was in the pageant?  Yeah, she WON.  She is the NEW Miss Hawaii 2011.  That’s kind of a big deal.  Congratulations Lauren!!!!
.

i’m sooo not a fashion blogger.

things i learned yesterday:

1. i should never pretend to be a fashion blogger. no no.  not a good look.

2. never spray wrinkle releaser on RAYON.  it leaves watermark stains even after it dries so you have to wear your hair down to cover it up.  (note to self: read packaging. duhhh.)

3. my new job looks like its gonna be awesome blossom.  im stoked.

4. my boyfriend is amazing and so supportive of me!  but i already knew that.

[dinner @ bella mia to celebrate my first day!]

island hopping.

Yesterday my parents and I went to Kona (Big Island) for the day to visit my sister Kimberlee’s in-laws (so my co-in-laws?  is that even a word?).  [Funny story:  I guess my older sister and I (btw we are basically the same person and I copy her in everything I do) both have a thing for white boys from Hawaii; she met Blake (a haole from Kona) while going to school at the University of Hawaii and I met Reis (a haole from Oahu) while going to school in Santa Barbara.  Blake moved to California after they graduated to be closer to my sister and I moved to Hawaii after I graduated to be closer to my boyfriend.] Weird, huh?  I was just trying to be exactly like her :)

Anywayyys..to make up for the lack of road trips you can take while living here in Hawaii is the opportunity to island hop!  The flight to most outer islands is no longer than 30 minutes and all of the islands have something unique to offer.  I LOVE Big Island and we had so much fun catching up with the co-in-laws by eating, shopping, and adventuring our way through Kona.  We feel so blessed that our families are so close and it was so fun to see them!  Here are a few pictures from our trip.
