i still remember our wedding weekend like it was last weekend.

my family arrived in santa barbara late thursday night and it was nice to relax a little bit before the craziness began.  i had fun delivering welcome boxes to the hotels our guests were staying at, grabbing coffee at the daily grind (my favorite sb coffee shop), and doing some last minute projects (like making an itinerary for the weekend!).

i remember being SO giddy and excited to see everyone all together for the first time on friday afternoon!  our bridal party (yes, all EIGHTEEN of them!) came from multiple cities and states including north carolina, hawaii, and up and down the coast of california.  i was also really excited just for our wedding festivities to finally begin and to enjoy the weekend from that point on.  no more crafting, no more planning, no more DIYing, no more stressing!  i couldn’t wait to spend time with our closest friends and family in one of my favorite places in the world and to marry my best friend.

our venue, rancho dos pueblos, blows me away every time i see photos.  it is just so beautiful!  we had our rehearsal dinner on the charming patio of the bay roadhouse restaurant on state street in santa barbara.  it was such a perfect night and a great start to the weekend!

*THANK YOU so much to janelle who took most of these amazing photos!  i will treasure them always!

friday thoughts.

+ we will soon be receiving the disc of our wedding photos so i am going to start sharing photos from that entire weekend on the blog (mostly so i can re-live it all over again.  just bear with me.)  so if you are into that sort of thing, next week i will be doing a few wedding weekend posts!

+ this week was pretty amazing.  my long-time dream of launching my own design company became a reality!  i still can’t believe it sometimes and i feel like i’m living in a dream because it’s just too good to be true.

+ easter is this weekend and as much as i love the chocolate bunnies and the candy, i love more the true meaning of easter and why we celebrate it!

happy good friday and i hope you all have relaxing weekends!  i plan on spending time with good friends, doing easter festivities, and catching up on sleep. the night owl majorly came out in me this week.  i was kind of nocturnal.

WALLS | laura’s santa cruz cottage.

part of the reason i wanted to start this walls columns was because a lot of my friends have really cute houses/apartments that i wanted to showcase.  one of my best friends laura (who just visited a few weeks ago) lives in santa cruz, california in an adorable cottage a few blocks from the beach.  it is just the coziest, cutest thing ever!  we were able to see her house on our drive back to southern california from san francisco in january.  she and her roommate have successfully decorated their place using thrift finds, DIY projects, and flea market scores.  a few of my favorite things about their house: the amazing natural light, the open kitchen shelving, the shingles on their bathroom wall (+ an unpictured clawfoot tub!), and their bubbly bar.  the structural charm of the place with the wooden beams and old windows PLUS their interior decorating skills make it so homey that upon entering you want to curl up on that couch with a blanket, a good book, and a glass of champagne.  and hey, check out that beach at the end of their street (santa cruz WOULD have a peace sign drawn in the sand, ha!).

the [unflattering] jumpsuit.

jumpsuit2jumpsuit9jumpsuit1
first off – thank you all so much for your kind response to my new site!  it really means a lot, so THANKS!

now…can we just talk about how i chose to wear the most unflattering and shapeless piece of clothing this weekend when i was taking pics for my new site?!?  woops.  i got this jumpsuit a few weeks ago and it is by far one of my favorite articles of clothing.  but i definitely feel like an oompa loompa when i wear it, especially when it’s windy and fabric is billowing all over the place.  so i’m still not too sure what i was thinking to wear it for such an occasion, but i was pretty comfy and that is #1 in my book…even if my hips do look double their size.

grand launch!

grandlaunch3

oh hey!  welcome to my brand spankin’ new site and the grand launch of JayAdores Design Co.!  it feels so good to have this up and running and i am SO happy with how it turned out.  i think it really represents my brand and my aesthetic (remember my moodboard here?).  take some clicks around and explore all of my new pages if you’d like!

a few shoutouts:

+ a HUGE thank you to scott, my amazing developer who made this thing come alive!  i highly, highly recommend this guy.  super knowledgable, helpful, patient, nice, and very timely with e-mails!  if you are looking for a programmer, scott is your man.

+ for those who subscribe by e-mail, i don’t think you will be getting e-mail notifications anymore as i switched servers in the process.  i think eventually you will be able to re-subscribe by e-mail using that subscribe button on the right…but as for now, i don’t think it’s working.  i’ll keep you posted!

+ google reader will no longer be around on july 1 (so sad!), so now i read blogs via feedly.  check my blog out here!

+ i finally created an official facebook page.  so if the f-book is your thing, you can like my page here!

+ i am hoping to launch my shop at the end of summer 2013!  with our move to california coming up sooner than later, i’ve got a lot on my mind (like how i’m going to decide which of our possessions are worth shipping across the pacific).  i also thought it would be best to hold off on shipping a ton of inventory here only to have to ship it back to the golden state.
