i shared ann-marie’s bridal shower invitations last week and today i’m sharing a few snaps from her shower! we went with a gold, glitz, and xoxo theme complete with gold sequin tablecloths, gold foil balloons, diy glittered coffee filter garlands + poms, and gold straw mobiles. seeing as the bride is a self-proclaimed gold fanatic, we figured we couldn’t go wrong using too much of that color. the talented foodie janelle made most of the delicious menu, including some infused vodkas to kick things up a notch! we also had lemonade cater a few of ann-marie’s favorite dishes alongside their signature lemonades. we had such a fun and relaxed evening celebrating our dear friend and hanging out with all of our bffs (a lot of us have known each other since kindergarten)! i am so excited to see this gorgeous gal walk down the aisle tomorrow (!!!) and am so honored to be standing next to her on her special day. love you annie!

we’ve been in our little house for almost 5 months now so i thought i’d share a few photos of our [still in progress] home. it’s quirky and perfect for us and the neighborhood is just the cutest. i love that while i’m working i see joggers, dog walkers, and moms pushing their babies in strollers from my office window. have i mentioned how awesome it is having an office?! we are looking for some artwork for the walls and are currently building a credenza and a bookshelf with my dad. once those things are finished, it should feel pretty settled around here!

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY GETAWAY.

a few weeks ago for my birthday, reis surprised me and told me to pack an overnight bag + be ready at 6 pm because he was taking me somewhere when he got off of work. this was really exciting because 1) he’s never done that before, and 2) i love surprises. he took me to san diego for the night and we had the best time. we’ve been driving down south quite a bit lately but haven’t made it into the heart of san diego on any of our day trip excursions. he booked a room at hotel palermo in the gaslamp district and we ate dinner at osteria panevino. i highly, highly recommend this place. they have authentic + amazing italian food that made us feel like we were back in italy on our honeymoon! another noteable stop on our mini trip was the coffee and tea collective in north park. i actually think the first time i heard about this place was via a photo on pinterest. we love trying out different coffee shops in the places we go and this place did not disappoint (plus their logo/branding is pretty rad!).

thanks again to my main man for planning such a sweet surprise for me. you’re the best.

GOOD BRANDING IS THE WAY TO MY CART | NO. 1.

if a product has good packaging, i am 75% more likely to buy it than the same generic product. my wallet doesn’t like this, but what can i say, i love pretty things! especially if they are going to be openly displayed in our house. here are a few of my current favorites:

1/ cafe du monde – come on, who doesn’t love a good orange coffee tin sitting pretty in the kitchen? (the coffee actually tastes good too)

2/ sydney hale co. candlesthis girl turned me on to this woodsmokey scent a few months ago. when we were in downtown la a few weeks ago, poketo had a few left in stock and i’m so glad i took one home with me. unfortunately i can’t afford this expensive habit considering i nearly burned through the whole thing in a week!

3/ mrs. meyer’s clean day – i’ve been buying mrs. meyer’s products for a few years now and i’m a big fan. dish soaps, hand soaps, all purpose cleaners, laundry detergent…they’ve got it all.

4/ murray’s original pomade – a few months ago reis needed some pomade for his hair and since i know nothing about hair products whatsoever, i picked the one that looked the coolest.

ENCINITAS.

it’s probably pretty obvious by now that coffee + the beach are two of our favorite things. not surprisingly, both of these things are often involved in our days spent together. several weeks ago we headed down to encinitas for the day. i really love this cute little town, their gorgeous beaches, and their cute coffee shops (namely pannikin). it’s even better when reis’ day off lands on a weekday because we get places to ourselves and don’t have to deal with crowds!

the weather is starting to feel more like fall in these parts and that probably means beach days won’t happen as much…but i won’t say the same about our coffee consumption. i could not be more excited for this season! it’s my first fall with temps below 85* in the past four years so i say bring on the cold weather, layers, and hot drinks.
