typical sunday.

i really love sundays.  mostly because we get to see most of our friends, get out of honolulu, go to the beach, and relax in the country.
yesterday was a pretty typical sunday for me and reis:
we drove up to the north shore.
we stopped in haleiwa at our favorite cafe to eat breakfast.
went to church.
he surfed after.
i took a nap. (yes, i have my own personal hammock thanks to reis’ dad!)
we drove back to town.
and got more coffee along the way.
perfect day.

my first photoshoot (and latest obession): kezia+ashton

last week my friend kezia asked me if i would shoot her and her fiance ashton’s engagement photos.  ummm…you sure about that kez??  i barely know how to use 2 of the 192410 functions of my camera.

her and ashton are super laid back so they didn’t care that i’m a complete amateur.  so this weekend we shot a few (more like 700) photos on the north shore in haleiwa.  can i just say that before this shoot, i was kinda ehh about photography.  i love taking photos but never thought i would be into photoshoot-professional-type stuff.  by the end of the day, i was (and am) obsessed and am trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my life career goals.  oh my goodness photography is addicting.  capturing that perfect shot is so much dang fun.  anddd kezia and ashton are so adorable so it was tons of fun to hang out with them and be their personal paparazzi for the afternoon.  here are some of my favorite shots of the day:

and my absolute favorite shot i think i have ever taken….

thanks kez and ash for letting me take your pics!  i love you guys!

photo challenge day 2: what i wore & a chinatown lunch date.

sooo…about that photo challenge.  yeah, i’ve been a bit of a slacker and too busy unpacking and organizing my new place!  but we are back in business and i hope i can catch up!

yesterday reis had the day off so he came and met me for lunch near my office in chinatown.  chinatown can definitely be super sketch at times, but there are tons of little eatery/hole-in-the-wall gems that are worth checking out if you are in the area.  we went to rosarina’s — a little italian restaurant that has this “special dressing” that is to. die. for.  we both got turkey subs and they were quite delicious.  then i made him take pictures of me for day 2: what i wore so i can finally move on and get on to the other days.  i told you it would take me longer than the 30 days.  let’s just say i’ve never been a very punctual person.  any of my good friends will vouch for the truth of that!

this girl is exhausted.

(at least i have my new pillow-top mattress to sink into + some 400 thread count sheets i got from costco!)

is it friday yet?  be back [hopefully] tomorrow!

birthday wishes for my sister.

people get to pick their friends but they don’t get to pick their family members.  i am BEYOND blessed that God gave me you as both my sister and my best friend.  thank you for understanding me better than anyone!  i have looked up to you since forever.  thank you for being an amazing, loving, and godly example to your little sis.  i love you, kimbeeee!

a few thoughts on moving.

1) it is ridiculously expensive when you go from a fully furnished condo to ground zeroooo.  even if you get good deals on everything.  which for the most part, i did.  bank account needs some serious recovery.
2) you don’t realize how much CRAP you have until you move.  27 trips back and forth later… (note to self: become a minimalist.)
3) it is a really good workout.
4) it induces major allergies.  lots. of. dust.  me and the tissue box quickly became inseparable.
im so exhausted and cannot wait to be settled in my new place!  here are some pictures of me and my old roommates (nicky + jess) having a grand ol’ time cleaning.

dear old house, i will miss you a lot.  especially your view.  thanks for being so good to me!
