pictures from the [best] weekend [ever].

this weekend was probably one of the best weekends i’ve had since moving here two years ago.  seriously, it was that good.  we spent lots of quality time with great friends eating great food…and you really can’t go wrong with that combo.  we ate at a fun japanese restaurant + yogurtland on friday night, a reggae concert + more froyo on saturday night, went to an an awesome church service on sunday, beached it all afternoon, and ended the weekend with a barbeque at a friend’s house sunday night on the north shore.  our friend brett is an amazing cook and he cooked up a delicious feast: lamb skewers, coffee-rubbed steak, bbqed chicken, rice, potatoes, and salad.  hellooooo goodness.  i really wish i could just press the repeat button every weekend from now on.

the hilarious Sarah who blogs at the oh-so-popular SkinnyRunner.com released Round TWO of SR shirts yesterday!  I have had the pleasure of working with Sarah (and met her for the first time in february) since last November on multiple different projects, including lots of shirts (round 3 coming soon!) and her logo that you see above.  if you like to run or workout, go buy one here.  these shirts are technical fabric so they are airy, lightweight, and 8923140x better than cotton.  get them while they are hot – last time they sold out in 2 days!

thanks sarah for working with me!  looking forward to working with you more!

it’s almost the weekend!

[update: Logan was born last night an absolutely BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY baby boy and both baby and mommy — and daddy! — are doing well!!  Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!]

yesterday was quite a roller coaster of emotions:

  • my car wouldn’t start in the morning.  (it has been acting funny lately and every time i go to start my car its like a guessing game if it’s going to start or not.)
  • when if finally did, i rear-ended a parked car at 6:30 AM (leaving a fat ugly dent in the person’s door).  sweeeet.
  • found out my insurance will cover everything! (thank you God!…and Geico customer service is awesome.)
  • i could not focus for the life of me at work.
  • dude-whose-car-i-hit called me back from the [veryyy sincere & sorry] note i wrote and left on his windshield…and called me a not-so-nice name.  how rude.
  • reis calls me :  “that was the hardest and worst test i’ve ever taken in my life.”  poor thing.
  • and at 8:30 PM i got the best e-mail ever saying that Logan was born and with a picture of him:  he is completely perfect.
overall crazy day.  but a seriously blessed one too.
this weekend, to celebrate reis being done with his test, we are going:
.(well, at least until he starts school on Monday)
.
(or more like for me, try and surf is more like it.)
.
We are staying with his parents for the weekend and I’m so excited for a relaxing few days!  Have a great weekend.

it’s a BIG day today.

[@ his White Coat Ceremony in June 2009]

today is a BIG BIG BIG day.  Reis is taking his board exams.  this test is the test of all tests for med students.  it’s an EIGHT-hour (!) extravaganza that they take at the end of their second year and it basically determines the rest of their future — where they will get into for residency and what kind of doctor they will become — no big deal.  the guy has been studying his butt off for the past two and a half months and after today, he can finally breathe again!  i am soo soooo incredibly proud of him.

(and hey, after this test, he will only have about SEVEN (7!!) years of school/residency left and oh, about $200K worth of debt to pay off!)  yeeee haw.  let the fun begin!

today is also a BIG day because my best friend Heather is giving birth to Logan!!!  remember when I was in CA and threw her a baby shower??  well today the little guy will finallyyyy make his entrance into the world and i could not be more excited!!  i love him so much already and cannot wait to hold him and meet him in person!

so please, pretty please,  PRAY PRAY PRAY for both of them today!!!

i’m off to go bring reis some coffee and breakfast before his test!

miss hawaii.

Friday afternoon I get an email from my roommate Jess.  She wants to know if our other roommate Nicky and I want to go to the Miss Hawaii show/pageant (idk what they are technically called??) because her mom has free tickets for the VIP tables.  Umm, let me think about this:

A reason to dress up (and wear my favorite black dress from Ross…that I got for $4.99!!!),
hang out with my roomies,
see my friend Lauren compete in the pageant,
and get free drinks, food, and dessert??
YES PLEASE.  Sign me up.
.
So Saturday night the three of us got all fancy shmancy and went to the show.  And guess what?  My friend who was in the pageant?  Yeah, she WON.  She is the NEW Miss Hawaii 2011.  That’s kind of a big deal.  Congratulations Lauren!!!!
